Divorced from reality

Without a partner, £1 million ($1.8 million) clearly doesn’t buy you happiness:

Life for Britain’s millionaire divorcées can be anything but easy, despite their wealth and their no longer having anyone telling them how to spend it. Now a Bristol business-woman has set up a service to help to ease women of “high net worth” through the pain and uncertainty of separation and divorce — and relieve them of some of the burden of having all that money.
The ex-wives club will provide everything from “life coaching” and fashion advice to a social network, but at a cost of up to £25,000 for a year’s membership.
Sue Liburd, 42, the founder of Talaka — which means divorce in Swahili — says that wealthy women often lack the support networks that help divorcées of more modest means through the trauma of breaking up.

Miss Liburd, who has never been married, added that “When lower income women come through a divorce, people rally round. They get more support and it’s easier for them.”

Good to know.
