Hard cell
This guy has no idea who—or what—he is up against:
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korean stem-cell researcher Hwang Woo-suk said Tuesday that religious groups’ opposition to his research helps keep his work on track toward its aim of treating patients with incurable diseases and insures cloning technology won’t be abused.
The Roman Catholic Church issued a statement over the weekend opposing Hwang’s research and stressing that an embryo is a living being. Last month, the head of South Korea’s main Confucian organization said the group opposed stem-cell research for going against the laws of nature.
…To ensure that his research is done transparently and in an ethical manner, Hwang said he would be willing to meet religious and civic groups to listen to their views, as long as it doesn’t compromise the security of his work.
“All science has two sides,” Hwang said, adding that the religious groups serve to help provide ethical constraints to his work.
Dude, these people don’t want dialogue. They want to shut you down.
