Clinton: government failed the people

So how’s the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund dream team getting along?

HOUSTON, Texas (CNN) – Former President Bill Clinton on Monday said the government “failed” the thousands of people who lived in coastal communities devastated by Hurricane Katrina, and said a federal investigation was warranted in due time.
“Our government failed those people in the beginning, and I take it now there is no dispute about it,” Clinton told CNN. “One hundred percent of the people recognize that – that it was a failure.”
… The elder Bush echoed Clinton’s sentiment, telling CNN’s Larry King that he is “not satisfied” with the handling of the hurricane’s aftermath.
Nonetheless, he defended his son’s performance.
“What can he do? He can just go out and do what he’s doing today, showing that the federal government’s involved, has been involved, will continue to be involved ... He cannot listen to every critic from the editorial page of The New York Times,” the elder Bush said.

OK… so how about listening to the American public instead?

Clinton - what a numbskull ... Government failed us after katrina? With the $50 billion Bush is calling for?!?

Well, truth is: Government *always* fails us.

And Clinton knows failure. Clinton failed to get Bin Laden in 1996, he bombed an aspirin factory instead. He failed when he let Goerlick build that 'wall' that stopped the FBI and CIA from talking to eachother about terror cells on our soil and folks like Mohammed Atta taking flight lessons.

He failed in Somalia. He failed to deliver on his promised welfare reform until Newt passed it three times and made his roll over for political reasons (nevertheless, it became a stunning success, one of the best bills that was passed in his term in office).
He failed to realize Arafat was the wrong guy to try to make peace with.
He failed to stop North Korea from lying to us and building nukes, despite us sending them food and despite his Secty of State toasting that evil dictator Kim Jong Il.
He failed when he took illegal campaign contributions from Chinese generals looking to steal US technology for Loral...

Now we see in NO the failure of New Orlean to follow their disaster plan. failure to use metro busses and let them get flooded. failure by gov blanco to call up national guard for 3 days, then whine about federal govt, when federal govt cant act without *her* authorizing it - she dithered while new orleans flooded.

And now his crony DeWitt is 'helping' the witless Gov Blanco act with utter indecision and political calculation, so Clinton-cronyism-failurism spreads.

Clinton ought to know. Blame the other guy first while acting wholly politically, leaving people considerations second. That's the Clinton style, and Blanco followed it to a T. Out there, unable to decide to federalize national guard while other Demcorats blamed the President for failures caused by state and local officials (most of them Democrats).

No, Clnton's not half the failure Jimmy Carter was as President, but BJ Clinton sure 'nuff knows about how Government can fail us!
